Supporters of Type1Rider

Our organization, the race team, and I receive a high level of support from lots of individuals and businesses.  I personally could not train, ride, and race at any level without their help.  A very special thanks to:

Joe Largay is the medical professional in charge of my diabetes care.  He works out of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine's Diabetes Care Center, and introduced me to DESA.  Also a Type 1 diabetic and cyclist, he is instrumental in helping me figure out race strategies, and adapting new technology to my cycling efforts.  Without Joe, I am not sure if the Type1Rider organization would exist.

Dr. Lee Ann Bankaitis handles all of my other medical needs, as well as serving as an authoritative "sounding board" for ideas and questions I may have about my diabetes.  Her practive, Comprehensive Family Medicine in Chapel Hill, is a complete medical facility, and I have used the x-ray machine there on way too many occasions.  Dr. Bankaitis understands what makes me "tick" (as she is fit and athletic herself), and is, by far and away, the most personable and caring doctor I have ever met. 

Rob Noti is not only one of the most talented riders I have ever met or ridden with (at least tried to), he is also the finest wrench within 1000 miles.  Rob, and the rest of the shop staff at The Clean Machine and The Bicycle Chain family (Jeff, Scott), are absolute professionals when it comes to parts and repairs.  He always makes time to check out my bikes if something is wrong, and expertly advises me on the optimal solution.   He keeps my wheels rolling, and I am grateful.  Furthermore, Rob is an extraordinary solicitous person which is much more important than his bike tech skills.
